I know there are hundreds of you out there with E-readers and I bet you love them. I am considering finally getting one. I haven't waited this long because I didn't want to get one, but because I didn't have the funds to afford one. Now I am working again, and it'd be nice to treat myself to one.
I do feel a little bad though, because I know once I get an e-reader, I won't buy actual books as much. It's so much cheaper to get an e-book than an actual book, and as much as I adore them, I've spent so much money buying books. I know that there are a lot of different views on e-readers, and how they have changed the world of reading, but I don't think they're negative.
In fact, I think that they have caused more people to read because it is so much easier to carry than carrying several books around. Some of them also have cool features, like Wi-Fi and Apps that can make just having an e-reader more fun.
I'm just curious to hear what you bloggers think of them? Do you like e-readers or not? If not, why?

I'm not a fan personally because I prefer to hold (and collect) actual books. I don't mind spending a little more money for them to get that kind of satisfaction.
ReplyDeleteI love my nook! People think that just because you have an ereader you stop buying "real" books, but thats just not true. I love my nook for when I want to buy a book I'm not sure I'll like, for reviewing books from netgalley and pdf review books, and its great for when I can't get to the book store or I don't want to wait for a bookstore to order a book that they don't have in stock. Its also great because you can use the highlights and notes feature to write notes for your reviews. So all in all, I love my ereader. I still buy real books occasionally, usually because I want to get them signed. But having an ereader is definitely a huge plus.
ReplyDeleteActually, now, I feel like it's becoming increasingly rare to find ebooks that I want to read - ESPECIALLY new releases that are cheaper than the hardcover. Sometimes, I find them to be the exact same price.

Although I own a eReader, it never stops me from buying actual books. I love both, but I really love physical books more. I use my eReader whenever I purchase or is gifted an eBook. I have more physical books than eBooks. I tend to buy the physical and eBook copies when I can. I know, I know...it's a lot of money, but it's quite worth it. I can re-read books over and over again without making it look old and worn out on my eReader.

I love, love, love my nook! It is on m my favorite things list. Guess what? Books are still on my favorite things list too. I mostly use my nook for review copies from authors and netgalley or for books that are only out on ebook. I still buy plenty of books!!!! Shari
ReplyDeleteI have a Kindle. While it's really cool, I've only read two books on it so far after six months. I still much prefer physical books. The e-books are very cheap though!
ReplyDeleteIf I traveled a lot, I think I would be more tempted to get an e-reader. Because as much as I love books, they are heavy to lug around! As it is, I don't travel all that often, so I'm happy with my stuffed bookshelves and my one weighty book in my purse.
ReplyDeleteI LOOOOVE my Kindle. I adore books but a Kindle is so convenient. It's easy to transport, light weight, has a entire shelf of books at your finger tips, its green, and cheaper.

I Love my Nook! But guess what, I still love books too. But, I do travel a lot. And I tend to read a lot while I travel. And books tend to be heavy. E-readers are not heavy.
ReplyDeleteI think it's inevitable, plus it's better for the environment. Although now the landfills will have used e-readers. But I'm all for anything that keeps people reading. It's the words not the pages that are important!
