Literary Fashion | It + Love & First Sight

It's been quite some time since I created some sets over on my Polyvore profile, so with feeling very motivated to blog today, I decided to take advantage of the moment and create some new outfit posts to share too. These are my two most recent reads: It by Stephen King and Love and First Sight by Josh Sundquist.
It by Stephen King

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with this cover. I wanted to capture the simplicity but didn't want anything too creepy. I was excited when I found the red 80's style pants before I remembered that the second part of the book took place in the 70's. The remake though does take place in the 80's so it's still appropriate. I wanted to incorporate more colors but really couldn't figure it out without clashing with the rest, so I settled for this.

Love and First Sight by Josh Sundquist

I had quite the opposite feelings for this cover because while it also mostly white, the title has so many colors that I wanted to capture them all. I didn't really know what kind of outfit to use though, especially because the protagonist of this book is a guy, but I went with a cute simple outfit and was pretty happy with the outcome. The outfit was also inspired by my friends outfit from this past weekend, so that's something xD

That's it for this weeks Literary Fashion (like I post these every week *insert eye roll*) and I am going to attempt to create more sets to share with you guys. I might aim for every Friday but that's a high expectation. Happy reading :)

Literary Fashion | November 9 + The Merciless

Like I mentioned in my last Literary Fashion post, the outfits I've created no longer match the character, but instead, match the covers of the book.

November 9 was one of my favorite books last year, so I definitely wanted to create an outfit that matched. I've used dresses really often, though, so in order to change it up a bit, I added some colored pants and a cute lace top. This one was fun to create and I wanted to incorporate most, if not all, the colors on the cover.

November 9 by Colleen Hoover

“When you find love, you take it. You grab it with both hands and you do everything in your power not to let it go. You can’t just walk away from it and expect it to linger until you’re ready for it.”

The Merciless by Danielle Vega

This one was tough to create, to be honest, because while I wanted to match the cover, I also wanted to add some of the books themes as well, but also include sort of a Mean Girls theme to it. The Merciless is about a group of popular high school girls (a la Mean Girls) who go psycho and try to perform an exorcism. So I went with an "On Wednesdays We Wear Pink" theme to match the cover and reference Mean Girls. After adding heels and a skirt, though, I felt like the outfit should be more "high schooler" and I just can't imagine wearing heels to school all day (as you can see, I put lots of thought into these LOL.)
"We exorcise you, impure one, you satanic power." Her clear voice fills the cold corners of the basement.

Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen

When I was trying to figure what outfit to choose for this cover, I originally wanted a light summer dress but I couldn't find one in the right shade of blue. When I went with gold, I wanted a beautiful evening gown and then it turned into a much fancier outfit, which really has nothing to do with the book and everything to matching the covers almost exactly.

“You only really fall apart in front of the people you know can piece you back together.”

Which outfit is your favorite? Let me know and offer any suggestions for future books as well :)

Literary Fashion | The One that Got Away + All the Bright Places

When I started this feature three years ago, I was planning on making it a regular feature. Of course, I leave and come back to the blog so often it's hard for me to regularly post anything. Now that I am newly inspired to post regularly, I took some time to create a few new sets on my Polyvore account, and I am really excited to share them.

The outfits no longer match the character, though, but match the cover instead. I realized that by waiting so long to post these, that I'd forgotten most about what the character wears and such, so I decided to coordinate my outfits to the cover. I liked this a lot better, but I might switch it up, depending on how well I remember each character.

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

“You are all the colors in one, at full brightness.”

The One that Got Away by Bethany Chase

“Even these last few, terrible days, he’s been my first thought in the morning, my last thought at night. Eamon—not Noah.”

Literary Fashion | Charlotte's Web

Sometime last year I decided to start up a new feature, Literary Fashion. While I've never considered myself to be very stylish or fashionable, I found it to be quite fun to put these outfits together. The normally match what the main character wears or match the cover somehow, and lately I started putting a few more together. Here's one of the older ones I done that I really liked, inspired by Charlotte's Web by E.B. White.
I wanted to keep the outfit relatively simple, and while the dress mostly represents what Fern wears in the book, but the accessories basically focus more on the animals. I really enjoyed creating this one because it was a fun, simple look but it came out kind of classy and I liked that.

Literary Fashion | Surface + Let the Sky Fall + Beautiful Bastard

So I only did a two of these literary fashion posts before my unexpected hiatus, so I decided to show off a few of the sets I created from the books I have recently (ish) reviewed. I don't consider myself fashionable or anything, I just find creating these sets a lot of fun, so I decided to incorporate them into my blog along with the books I've read.

This first one I created for Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren, which I read and reviewed yesterday. I am also giving away an ARC of the book, so check that out! For this set, I wanted something dark and sexy, like the cover but also professional since Chloe dresses really nice for work.

Since Surface is about sirens, I wanted the outfit to match the cover, but also have some sea aspects to it. The accessories have seashells, and the heels are "mermaid" ones. The clutch is also scaley to look like maybe a mermaid tail? This one was a lot of fun to put together.

For this Let the Sky Fall set, I definitely wanted to incorporate Audra's wardrobe. She normally wears a leather jacket and boots, regardless of the heat. Since she also uses a sword, her accessories include swords. I don't remember exactly why I added a black dress to this set...maybe she wears one in the book? This one wasn't a favorite, but I loved the colors used for the cover, so I included those as well for the more casual look.

I've created a few more sets based off books, but I am not sure how regularly I'll be posting these. Maybe only once a month or something. Anyways, hope you guys enjoyed this edition of Literary Fashion.

Literary Fashion | Ghost Hand

If you take a look at my review of Ghost Hand by Ripley Patton, you will see that I absolutely loved Olivia, the protagonist. She's a kick ass girl who is a bit...morbid. She wears all black clothing (which her mother does not approve of one bit) and I figured I could sort of play around with some outfits for her. Even though her colors are limited to...one, it was still fun to look at all the options. Plus, I couldn't resist creating a set after reading about her coffin backpack which I've only seen once in real life.
